Duplex 2205 Stainless Steel Storage Tanks

Duplex 2205 Stainless Steel Storage Tanks

Duplex 2205 is identified by the Unified Numbering System (UNS) designation of S32205. Duplex 2205 is a two-phase, ferritic, austenitic 22% chromium, 3% molybdenum, 5 to 6% nickel alloyed stainless steel. It also demonstrates good fatigue strength, as well as outstanding resistance to stress corrosion cracking, crevice, pitting, erosion, and general corrosion in severe environments up to 600° F.

Key Advantages of Duplex 2205 Material:

  • High resistance to chloride stress corrosion cracking.
  • Good oxidation resistance at high temperatures
  • High molybdenum content provides superior resistance in high saline and chloride environment
  • Lower cost per pound than 317L stainless steel and AL6XN.
  • Welding process is GMAW, using spray arc, pulsed-arc, short circuit for lower average heat inputs

Industries Benefiting from Duplex 2205 Tanks

  • Chemical Processing - For processing, transport and storage – pressure vessels, tanks, piping, and heat exchangers
  • Personal Health Care - The personal health care industry needs materials that can resist corrosion from high sodium chloride products and maintain high hygiene standards. Duplex 2205 material is used to ensure durability, cleanliness, and safety in facilities
