Every 316L stainless steel storage tank we build is constructed to meet the standards your project demands, including ASME "U" certification and National Board "R" certification where applicable. We also design and build to API 650, API 620, and other standards as required. Our certifications and standards are not a checklist item. Shop Fabrication and Field Fabrication 316L Tanks

SFI fabricates 316L stainless steel storage tanks in two ways, and the right choice depends on tank size, site conditions, and project scheduling.

Shop-fabricated tanks are built by ASME-certified welders at our facility in Springfield, Missouri. Shop fabrication allows for tighter quality control, faster turnaround on smaller tanks, and delivery to your site ready to install. Tanks up to 35,000 gallons are regularly built in our shop.

For larger vessels or site-specific constraints, field-fabricated tanks are constructed directly at your facility. SFI's field crews are experienced working at ground level, outdoors, indoors, and in tight quarters. Tanks up to 750,000+ gallons have been completed through field fabrication. Our crews bring the same quality standards to your site that govern every weld made in our shop.

 

What Goes Into a 316L Storage Tank Build

SFI does not deliver a generic vessel and call it done. Tank and equipment design is part of the process from the start. Our engineering team works with your specifications to design a tank that fits your process, your space, and your budget before fabrication begins.
