IN HONOR OF EARTH DAY

Earth Day was established on April 22, 1970, by U.S. Senator Gaylord Nelson, to promote environmental protection. Earth Day is an internationally recognized event.

Here’s a short list of things that promote awareness and help us to enjoy a better world, not just on Earth Day, but every day:

  • Anti-littering campaigns; trash clean-ups along our roadways and other public areas
  • Development and protection of parks, nature trails, lakes and rivers
  • Global warming and air pollution awareness
  • Growing some of our own food; composting; collecting rain water for our plants
  • Learning about our universe; its lands, oceans and creatures, through documentaries, books, photos and videos
  • Planting trees
  • Protecting natural habitats and endangered species
  • Recycling; reducing use of plastic; going paperless; repair and reuse when possible
  • Star gazing
  • Teaching children to appreciate, respect and enjoy planet earth
