OVERSIZE LOAD

Oversize loads are common-place for SFI.  We build tanks of all sizes, from a few gallons up to 750,000 gallons.  The huge shop fabricated tank pictured is 56 feet long with a diameter of nearly 14 feet and is designed to hold 50,000 gallons of juice.  It is certainly an oversized load!

The shipment required not only two escorts, but also a trailer equipped with remote-controlled rear-steering for making turns, reversing, etc. 

In addition to having a large footprint, this insulated and jacketed stainless steel vessel has three bands of dimpled heat transfer surface and a false bottom, making it quite heavy as well – over 40,000 pounds.   It was equipped with a cross-arm manway in the top head and an inswing manway in the lower sidewall.  Once on location and installed, the tank was outfitted with two ladders and a rest platform to provide personnel access to the manway and fittings on the tank’s top head.
